Heartland Backcountry Horsemen
Christmas Potluck Meeting
December 9, 2008
After a sumptuous potluck, the meeting was called to order by
President Al Becker. Those present were: Al and Holly Becker,
Ron and Anita VanGrunsven, Nick and Linda Davenport, Don and
Jackie Dowdy, Doug and Beth Roberts, Loran and Bridgett Brest,
Carolyn Bagot, Helen Glidden, Paul Kleint, Linda Hemminger and
Marti Eich. Guests were Fred and Shirley Glemser, Olin and Karen
Balch, and Peg Tiedeman who joined the club; Leonard and Jeannie
Simpson from Kuna and and Jan Rininger from Indian Valley.
Calendar
Sales—The last ones were brought to the meeting
and sold to folks here. Our chapter has sold 120 calendars for
BCHI, raising $2,370. We donated one to Mike Nourse and paid
$10 to sit at the Indian Valley Craft Fair where Bridgett and
Loren, Don and Jackie sold 26 calendars! Way to go! Al Becker
sold all the “winning calendars” to his friends.
Great effort all around! THANK YOU!
Directors'
Meeting—full report to follow at the next meeting
but here are two timely issues: Linda H. has a 250 page Education
Book, a hard copy of which was given to each chapter. There is
info on our BCHI, first aid for people and horses in the mountains,
and many great topics. It is also available on the website of
BCHI.org. Life Flight Memberships are being “grandfathered
in” at the $5.50 rate per person to BCHI. The Directors
voted that a person must now be a member of a chapter of BCHI
in order to buy the coverage. Family memberships could be used
to cover grandchildren, somewhat at the discretion of the local
chapter. Al Becker will coordinate the membership/life flight
sales. The money must be paid by the first week in January.
Expenses—Bridgett
presented receipts for $31.78 used to buy the poster boards
for our calendar sales displays. Beth moved
and Helen seconded that we reimburse her. Passed unanimously.
Bridgett gave the receipts to Paul for Jan. Anita and Linda asked
to be reimbursed for the $40 registration and hotel expenses
for the Directors' Meeting. They carpooled with Kleint's and
paid for their own meals. Also passed unanimously.
Election
of Officers –These folks agreed to serve:
President—Paul Kleint
Vice President—Al Becker
Secretary—Joy Rittersbacher
Treasurer—Jan Whitney
Directors—Linda H. and Anita with Olin and Bridgett as
alternates
